Interfacial electrochemistry is the area of science that examines chemical and electrical processes occurring where two materials meet, most often where a solid surface (an electrode) is in contact with a liquid or solid electrolyte. It focuses on how electric charge is stored and transferred at these boundaries, and how this influences reactions, material behavior, and measurable electrical signals.

This discipline provides the foundation for understanding and improving many technologies, including batteries, corrosion protection, electroplating, and chemical sensors. In this course, students will gain a broad introduction to the key ideas and practical relevance of electrochemical processes at interfaces.
